It's the most wonderful time of the year....or is it? Celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior seems like enough to keep us all joyful throughout the season however; I think we all find ourselves grumbling a little bit about the weather, long lines at the stores and all of the extra work we do to get ready for the holidays, etc.
So I wonder, why is it referred to as the most wonderful time of the year? Could it be that it's the time of year that we become THANKFUL for those things that we have (our families, shelter, food, etc.) or that we begin noticing the small things in life like how a child's face lights up when they see a Christmas tree or Santa Claus? Whatever it is that causes us to become just a bit nicer it's this time of the year that I'm a bit more grateful.
I am hopeful that everyone will get to spend more time with their families. Whether families are truly a blood line or simply neighbors or close friends, may we all find it in our hearts to take extra time to really love and cherish each other?
I have just attended three funerals in the last two weeks. It has become very clear to me that I need to be spending each day like it is my last. I need to take the few extra minutes to tell people how much I do cherish them or what they really mean to me. At each visitation I heard family and friends speak about what that person had met to them and how they had touched their lives.
I have been so fortunate in the last few months meeting new "friends" through my wig business. I am invited into their homes to share with them stories of our lives. I have been touched deeply by each person that I have met. A lot of those people continue to be in my thoughts and prayers today. Whether these dear women are going through chemo treatments and are losing their hair or are getting a bit older and their hair is beginning to thin or they just want a differnet look for fun....they have all touched my life!
May we all hold each other a little bit longer, love a little bit deeper and befriend a little bit easier.
God Bless and Merry Christmas
